Ryan McGinley

I think these photographs are beautiful and scary at the same time. There is a since of calmness and secretive pleasure that lies within the his composition and color usage.

25MP FF Sony?!

25mp full frame Sony A900 just announced at a price point of 3K. likely will not, nor intended to compete with the Canon 1Ds Mk3, but will be interesting to see how it compares.

a sign of things to come surely, and the specs of the upcoming Canon 5D mk2 look promising as well.

dynamic range/performance aside, with the emphasis on paperless media and digital convergence, is more actually . . . more.  for instance as was the case with computers, the marketing emphasis was once on how much speed/horsepower the chip generated, and less so on ease of use and intuitive lifestyle integration. thankfully that has changed, but camera manufacturers are the slowest on the planet in redefining the paradigm of (D)SLR improvements. For instance, and this is one of many, I would gladly trade MP for a pro-level flip up waist level screen like they have on their prosumer line, but no. Can you imagine a camera without inherent brand quirks? neither can they apparently.

RYAN MCGINLEY

Ryan McGinley is a young -less than 30 I think- photographer from NY. I discovered his "I know where the summer goes" series last year. I think his photography is mainly about freedom; I LOVE his use of color and his compositions.
Here is a very, very interesting article about him from the NY Times. It says a lot about ambition, rigor, and how he managed to put his work "out there" in the world.
